Viera wines are named after the town of Viera in Costa Del Sol, Spain. The name Viera was inspired by the sea views from the winery’s tasting room. The region named Costa del Sol is named after the place where the town is located. It’s a rural region and most of the grapes used to make Viera wines are grown on farms. Many well-known Spanish wine brands like Vivienda, Ballaterias and Torrevieja are from this area.

Many of the wines made in Spain come from the Mediterranean and the best known ones are Calvados, a deep golden color wine that’s very popular with seafood enthusiasts and it also makes a great sparkling wine. Another famous variety is the white wine that’s also known as Arrabida. This is a crisp and light wine that’s very refreshing and goes great with fish and chips. Another variety is the sparkling wines or Moscados, they’re made from fermented lemons and are very popular especially during the Christmas season.

There are many more varieties that are still being discovered and some of these wines have been imported to other countries. In the United States Viera wines are becoming very popular because they are cheaper and they don’t have to go through the red-tinting process that the other wines go through. Because they’re cheaper, Viera wines are preferred over other options like Riesling and Pinot Noir.
